The size of your income is directly proportional to the size of your list. To be really successful in this business, you need a large and responsive list. But how do you grow your list quickly and effectively with the right kind of subscribers?
I’ve found that the most attractive enticement is a free ebook. It is important to target your give away so that you attract the right people. It would not make sense to offer a free weight loss ebook if your site is about fishing. You may gather a fair number of subscribers due to the subject matter, but they would quickly unsubscribe and you would sell very little fishing products to them. My niche is Internet marketing so I give away a free Internet marketing book entitled, ‘Make Money Every Day’.
Your free gift should be something of value that your potential customers will enjoy. It should be a gift that entices potential customers to join your list. Use your offer to attract subscribers.
If you use a confirmed opt-in system, do not provide the free gift until after the subscriber validates their subscription. When I first started out, I gave potential subscribers the download link along with the validation email. Unfortunately, many people downloaded the freebie, and neglected to confirm their subscription. I was left with an awful lot of unconfirmed subscribers. But I learned from that. Do not provide them with your Internet marketing book until AFTER they complete the subscription process.
Some list builders fill their ebooks with affiliate links. I prefer not to do that. I like to provide my subscribers with good info and no ads. If they like what I write, there will be plenty of time later for them to buy my products. But, that is just my personal preference.
